For The Corps
Marching Health partners with drum corps to offer a holistic health and wellness experience, with staff and students given specific drum corps workout programs, injury prevention education, and healthcare.
We begin working with drum corps in the preseason to offer the following:
Drum Corps-specific workout programming. This currently includes our 6-week “Couch to Corps Workout”, 12-week “Ultimate Drum Corps Workout”, and 4-week section-specific Workouts. We will work with your current visual and/or medical staff to help implement these, and improve member accountability. Learn more about these workouts.
Telehealth. Our team of Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists offer world-class telehealth injury and rehabilitation consultations. This is a sustainable means of delivering skilled healthcare to the drum corps members, and working alongside the medical team and admin to create a better member experience.
In-Person Medical Coverage. We can assist in the recruiting and hiring process using our social media influence and network of healthcare providers. If planned in advance, we may also be able to provide on-site medical coverage during spring training or tour.
Train the Trainer. We want to provide our drum corps partners with our injury evaluation, treatment, and Return to Play standards that are applicable to the marching arts and practical in the summer tour setting. This is done virtually in the preseason, and is geared towards standardizing injury rehabilitation care. Topics covered are for the education of both rehab and non-rehab providers alike (MDs, RNs, and EMTs are the most common in the drum corps setting).
Instructional Staff Wellness Coaching. A key factor in getting buy-in from members will be how educated your instructional staff is in the health, wellness, and injury concepts of modern marching arts. We offer virtual coaching with your instructional teams (typically a couple of group sessions) to talk through what your movement and playing technique is asking of your students, how your rehearsal pacing impacts injury prevalence, and the role non-medical staff members can play in improving member health.
In-Person Camp Experience. We offer our partners the opportunity to have one of our clinicians join a winter or spring camp to lead the workouts, conduct injury prevention screens, do fitness assessments, and speak to the members in order to improve accountability and buy-in. This is a next-level partnership and does greatly increase member accountability.
This holistic approach of managing the health and wellness of a drum corps differentiates Marching Health from its competitors.
